1:XX AM (MON DEC 29 2025) ...  Palatine firefighters and paramedics worked at the scene of a house fire in the block of 300 North Plum Grove Rd Palatine. This was possibly a basement fire in a single-family home. A witness that lives in the neighborhood reported that at 2:00 AM Monday, December 29, 2025, ten emergency vehicles were parked in front of a house on the east side of Plum Grove Road in Palatine. There were at least three fire trucks, one ambulance and six squad cars on the scene. Police and firefighters stayed until 3:20 AM. Firefighters reported there was smoke in the basement and that the fire was extinguished. All occupants were evacuated from the house. There were no known injuries. The fire department response apparently was not upgraded to a Working Fire response. Incident dispatch was likely between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM and closer to 2:00 AM. Incident dispatch was about 6:35 PM. Arlington Heights Police Department and Metra Police Department. Metra Police Department investigating. Metra trains were stopped in both directions. Sounds like train(s) might be starting to move about 9:27 PM. Notification (weak on details) from the Arlington Heights Police Department was posted about 47 minutes after the crash occurred.
